This news story is too fresh to have all the details, but I understand that a TowBoat/US boat was involved in this fire and the towboat also burned…
The version I heard is that the towboat was attempting to tow the burning vessel away from the docks and other boats, but got a line caught in his wheel, and before he could get free, the towboat caught fire. This is still in “rumor” stage.
UPDATE: The towboat was evidently “borrowed” or commandeered by an un-authorized person who thought they were helping. But the TowBOAT/US captain was NOT on board. I’ll get more details tomorrow.
